Health care

Poland has the health care system based on the national health insurance. If you have a national health insurance in your country you are most likely covered by your medical treatment.

Please keep in mind that if you want to use the health insurance you need to have the EHIC

European Health Insurance Card from your country of origin, properly confirmed. Without such document, you will be obligated to cover the cost of your treatment.

Ambulance should be summoned in case of an accident or the victim should be taken to the nearest hospital.  Ailing visitors may seek aid in the nearest outpatient clinic. Foreign visitors without medical insurance will have to pay a standard fee for medical services. For prescription drugs, minor medications, and advice on treatment of minor ailments, go to a pharmacy (apteka). These are generally open from 08.00 to 20.00. The address of a pharmacy open 24 hours you can find here!

The Poland's currency is zloty. 1 zloty equals 100 groszy. In circulation there are 1-, 2-, 5-, 10-, 20-, and 50 groszy coins as well as 1-, 2-, and 5 zloty coins. The bank notes have 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 zloty nominal.
